Basic Information


 

Program Requirements
This program is open to junior and senior undergraduate students only.  Eligible participants must have prior coursework in British or European politics and/or history, a minimum 3.0 GPA, and program applications must be accompanied by two letters of recommendation from faculty.  Participants must be US citizens.
Dates of Program
This internship operates as a semester term, 15 weeks, twice a year:
Fall term: September-December
Winter term: January-April


 

Credit
Students will receive a grade for the Political Culture course (4 quarter hours, the equivalent of 3 semester hours); they will receive a "credit" for satisfactory completion of  the internship (9-12 quarter hours).  Evaluation of internship performance will be reflected by a grade for the 'seminar' (1-3 quarter hours). 

 
 

Costs
Ohio resident: $6,500*
Non-Ohio resident: $9,500*

Costs include tuition, program fee, orientation, permanent on-location assistance, and fully-furnished housing in Cardiff Bay.

Students are expected to cover their own transportation costs to Wales, their meals, and other incidental travel and personal expenses.

Deadlines and Deposit
Applications for the Fall term should be received by April 30;  for Winter, applications should be received by September 15.
  This is a competitive program and acceptance will be limited.  Applicants will be notified of their acceptance status within 30 days of receipt of the application.

Applicants will be accepted for the program on a rolling basis, so it is important to apply early for the limited number of openings.

Once accepted, students will receive information about course registration fees. Non-OU students will apply for non-degree admission to Ohio University.  A non-refundable initial deposit of $500 will be required within 30 days of acceptance. 

 

 

 

Financial Aid
Financial aid is usually transferable to the internship program.  Interested students are advised to contact the financial aid office of their own institution for information on the possibilities for financial aid.
