Undecided Student Advising
If you:
have not yet selected a major
are unsure of a suitable career
are hesitant to declare a major
have doubts about your current major
You are NOT alone!!
- About 20% of all students are undecided when they begin college.
- About 80% of students change majors at least once before making a final determination.
- Most students come to a decision about a major in the middle or near the end of their sophomore year.
- As an undecided student in Arts and Sciences, you are allowed to earn up to 90 credit hours before you must declare a major.
What's Good About Being "Undecided"?
- You will have an academic advisor to assist you in your choice of courses and discuss majors with you.
- You don't have to worry right away about fulfilling major requirements. The best time to "try on" courses, as well as to learn more about yourself, your talents, your skills, and your interests, is now -- during your first two years.
- Being undecided gives you a chance to become an "engaged" student, in charge of your own education.
- As you explore classes that provide insights about your own talents and learning style, you are engaged in opportunities to educate yourself for life and prepare for a lifetime of jobs and activities.
