"This Exit" Billboard Painting When: June 06 -Jun 30 Where: US Highway 33, 2 miles north of Nelsonville, OH
OU painting major Jonas Hart is exhibiting his most recent project, “This Exit”. The work is a full sized billboard on display along Route 33, north of Nelsonville, adjacent to the Faith Tabernacle Church.
The painting was made possible by the generous assistance of Nauman Outdoor Advertising, Inc. of Lancaster. Hart, a FAR major, first conceived the project for an assignment in a painting course. The painting, a landscape scene, depicts the scenery drivers see as they pass the billboard itself. The project encourages people to pay attention to their everyday surroundings. It was conceived and painted over a five week period during the second half of the spring quarter at the artist’s home and then installed at its site by Nauman’s crew. The finished size of the painting is approximately 320 square feet and was painted with standard exterior house paint directly onto the billboard panels.
“This Exit” will be on display through the end of June. Location: US Highway 33, 2 mile north of Nelsonville, OH .....................................................
