Project Background
The GPA calculator was originally created by the current Assistant Registrar, Bob Delong, formerly of Arts & Sciences, who wanted to assist the staff in the cumbersome task of calculating students' GPA's by hand. Modifications to this version were made by IT staff in the College of Arts and Sciences after it was suggested that the program would be helpful to advisors and students outside of the student affairs office.
The project was time consuming because it was necessary to make sure that the calculator complied with current university grading procedures. Thanks go to Phongsak Thongratana, System Specialist, and Binh Viet Nguyen, a Graduate Assistant, who put a great deal of effort into making this dream project come true, to Bob Delong, who dedicated his time to advise IT staff regarding grading policies to make sure the calculator worked accordingly, as well as to Karen Dahn, who always opened her door to answer the tons of questions IT staff had. Thanks too, to the advisors from other colleges who volunteered to test the calculator and provided us useful comments and suggestion.
We hope you find the Arts and Sciences GPA Caculator a useful tool for your own use.
